Hudson Mohawke returns with new album “Lantern”, tour stops in Chicago at 1st Ward / Chop Shop on Saturday, May 23, 2015

Silver Wrapper presents Hudson Mohawke on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 1st Ward / Chop Shop.

Hudson Mohawke (Ross Birchard) has been on a meteoric rise the last few years, working with some of the biggest names in hip hop, pop and dance music but everything started in a bedroom in Glasgow when he was barely a teenager. From age 15 he was an award winning scratch DJ producing happy hardcore on cracked software – he came to define a generation of electronic fusion producers but unlike many of his peers, Hudson has matured into a fully fledged contemporary hitmaker continually working to break the mold. Two weeks ago, Hudson Mohawke announced his new album, Lantern, with a creepy teaser, and now the Scottish producer has shared the first track from the album: the fittingly titled “Very First Breath.” The new track, which premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show earlier today, features vocals from French singer Irfane nestled amid booming, spacious bass and anxious synths. Listen to it here.

Doors at 9:00 PM. Show at 10:00 PM. Ages 18+.

GRiZ “Say It Loud World Tour” makes Chicago stop on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Aragon Ballroom

Silver Wrapper and React present GRiZ with special guests Exmag, Artifakts and more TBA on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Aragon Ballroom.

A true pioneer and master of musical expression, GRiZ (Grant Kwiecinski) stands head-and-shoulders above the competition in terms of the sheer variety of his ever-evolving technical prowess. A tremendously passionate and soulful producer, GriZ has a peerless knack for creating profoundly engaging melodies to offset the presence of his phenomenally designed bass. Where many artists become mired in a over-simplified and standardized method of production for the sake of creative efficiency; GriZ has no qualms sacrificing speed for the sake of quality, technical diversity, and an unrelenting devotion to progress and dynamism. Beginning his saga as a producer at the young age of fourteen, it is immediately evident that his talent and devotion will lead him on a journey of exceptional musical diversity and exploration. From funky rhythms to jazzy melodic embellishment, GriZ effortlessly incorporates his instrumental zeal for the saxophone with his lifelong dedication to soulful, laser-infused beat-making. This is only the beginning for Grant, and already the stylistic range of his material is both inspirational and utterly awe-inspiring.

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead returns for one night on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Concord Music Hall

Silver Wrapper presents Joe Russo’s Almost Dead on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Concord Music Hall.

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead is Scott Metzger, Tommy Hamilton, Dave Dreiwitz, Marco Benevento and Joe Russo. Not only does this quintet play tight and vicious versions of some of the most complex songs in the Grateful Dead’s repertoire, but they play them with a rawness & energy absent from the stage since the “Live” Dead era. More importantly, all of the jams are wild and incredibly adventurous. Russo’s a beast behind the kit who’s in the peak of his career. Metzger is a criminally underrated guitarist who has a chameleon-like ability to alter his sound to compliment any situation. Dreiwitz’s intensity is unmatched by anyone, while Benevento spouts these crazy tones and layers of sound that mix the best of what each keyboardist in GD history brought to the band. Finally, add Hamilton, whose voice and biting leads help push this ensemble over the top.

Doors at 8:00 PM. Show at 9:30 PM. Ages 18+.

Goldfish brings “Organic House” Tour to 1st Ward / Chop Shop on Saturday, March 21, 2015

Silver Wrapper presents Goldfish (Live) with special guests Auto Body on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 1st Ward / Chop Shop.

At the core of Goldfish has always been the collision of real, live “organic” instruments with electronic beats, creating an uplifting blend of dance music. Over the past few years a ground swell of like minded artists has begun to develop the same organic musical aesthetics. It seems like almost overnight this sound that we love so much has exploded online and onto the collective airwaves worldwide. Some people refer to it as “Deep House” – and although it does owe a fair amount of inspiration to this genre, it definitely has its own set of unique characteristics, so we found the need to differentiate it with its own genre: “Organic House” was born. Listen to Goldfish “Organic House” album here. This compilation features some of the biggest tracks currently rocking dance floors, as well as a selection of future classics. It’s more than just a compilation of the freshest sounds but a state of the nation: Organic house.

Conceived in and birthed from Austin’s steamy underground houses of Rock, Auto Body is live Electro Fusion. Fueled by their shared bloodlust for sonic divinity, and armed with a war chest of synthesizers, samplers, rattlesnakes, and a bass guitar, Tibaut Bowman (DJ Thibault) and Felix Moreno (Future Rock), crusade the universe in search of the electronic Holy Grail.

The Geek x VRV and Late Night Radio team on April 9, 2015 at 1st Ward / Chop Shop

Silver Wrapper presents The Geek x Vrv with Late Night Radio and special guests Krooked Drivers on Thursday, April 9th, 2015 at 1st Ward – Chop Shop.

Eclectic artists of the French scene, The Geek x Vrv exude a subtle, dynamic and punchy sound – drawing inspiration from legendary funk, jazz and soul genres of yesteryear. The Geek x Vrv have enjoyed immense growth in recent months with the near nonstop release of an impressive collection of EPs and albums, in addition to bookings at many festivals and as support for many international artists such as Gramatik, Zeds Dead, Savant, Dillon Francis, and many more. Silver Wrapper presents Redinho with special guests tba on Friday, March 13th, 2015 at Schubas Tavern.

Redinho’s always been different. On his first album, Numbers Redinho finds the perfect solution to being out of step – creating his own world to fit into. Across 15 tracks, including acclaimed past singles ‘Searching’ and ‘Stay Together’, Redinho conjures up visions of the deep sea, deep space, notsodeep jacuzzi parties and everything between, binding them together into an aesthetic that’s both stylish and starryeyed. With a masterful modern sheen and links to contemporary pop and hiphop, it’s hard to imagine it being released any time but now.
