ODESZA brings “In Return World Tour 2015″ to Chicago at Aragon Ballroom on November 21, 2015

Silver Wrapper and React present ODESZA with special guests TBA on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Aragon Ballroom.

In 2012, a striking new voice emerged from the wider surge of electronic music in the U.S. ODESZA‘s Summer’s Gone stood out from the crowd; it was a collection of songs, not just beats; and its irresistible, startling dreaminess, addictive drums and fathoms-deep bass set it apart from the by-the-numbers brutality of EDM’s also-rans. In an age of manufactured internet buzz and carefully plotted hype, ODESZA‘s story was refreshingly authentic: A brilliant new duo unveiled their music on the internet, and the world paid attention.

Released September 9, 2014, In Return has more than just delivered on the promise of ODESZA‘s previous work. A record with a precocious maturity and coherence, it’s a start-to-finish stunner of pop-infused, electronic wonder, littered with infectious hooks and potent atmosphere. Vocal performances from Zyra, Py and Shy Girls accompany that of Madelyn Grant on “Sun Models,” expertly worked into ODESZA‘s trademark, mood-altering uplift. ODESZA developed a new live performance to accompany In Return, ensuring that the shows do full justice to the album. Their work ethic and constant evolution has resulted in sold out headline tours of North America last fall, Australia this winter and North America again this spring with every show selling out in advance in the biggest venues they’ve headlined to date. Never ones to settle, ODESZA‘s ambitious live production continues to expand in time for performances at every major music festival this summer including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Hangout, Sasquatch, Governors Ball, Firefly, Melt and more.

One of the stunning aspects of ODESZA is the speed with which they’ve created a large, devoted fanbase – testament to just how refreshing, immediate and exciting their music is. Don’t miss ODESZA‘s Return World Tour 2015 Chicago performance this fall at Aragon Ballroom Saturday, November 21st, 2015.

Show at 10:00pm. Ages 18+.

Hudson Mohawke to play Concord Music Hall in Chicago with The-Dream on November 11, 2015

Silver Wrapper presents Hudson Mohawke with special guest The-Dream on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Concord Music Hall.

Hudson Mohawke (Ross Birchard) has been on a meteoric rise the last few years, working with some of the biggest names in hip hop, pop and dance music but everything started in a bedroom in Glasgow when he was barely a teenager. From age 15 he was an award winning scratch DJ producing happy hardcore on cracked software – he came to define a generation of electronic fusion producers but unlike many of his peers, Hudson has matured into a fully fledged contemporary hitmaker continually working to break the mold. Hudson Mohawke recently released his new album, Lantern, with a brand new video for Warriors, and you can listen to the whole album from the Scottish producer here.

Terius Youngdell Nash, better known by his stage name The-Dream, is an American RnB and pop record producer, singer, and songwriter. He has also co-written songs, including songs with Dear Jayne, “Me Against the Music” (2003) for Britney Spears, “Umbrella” (2007) for Rihanna, “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” (2008) for Beyoncé and “Baby” (2010) for Justin Bieber. He has released five studio albums in 2007 to 2013, and currently just dropped the brand new “The Crown” EP. Listen here.

Doors at 8:00 PM. Show at 9:00 PM. Ages 18+.

Hot Buttered Rum returns to Chicago on September 23, 2015 at 1st Ward / Chop Shop

Silver Wrapper presents Hot Buttered Rum on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2015 at 1st Ward / Chop Shop.

Hot Buttered Rum lives for songs. Songs to sing in the shower. Songs to crank through your earbuds at the DMV. Songs to name your babies after, and then make more babies to. The band’s three songwriters — Nat Keefe, Erik Yates and Aaron Redner — spin tales about the good times, the bad times, and the roads in between, and belt them from the heart in three-part harmony. Bryan Horne’s athletic standup bass and Lucas Carlton’s tasteful percussion combine with the acoustic instruments to create what is California’s own acoustic music. Hot Buttered Rum’s years of touring have given the band the chance to work and play with a wide cross-section of musicians, people like Phil Lesh, Chris Thile, Brett Dennen, and Robert Earl Keen. Seasoned veteran Steve Berlin (Los Lobos), acoustic guru Mike Marshall, and left-coast rocker Tim Bluhm (Mother Hips, Nicki Bluhm) have all produced studio albums for the band. Each guided HBR towards the next step in its evolution. It’s a sound that’s as tough to describe as it is easy to love, and it has found its way to the most prestigious pop, folk, and bluegrass stages in the country: Telluride, Newport, Bonnaroo, Strawberry, Hardly Strictly, Kate Wolf, Horning’s Hideout, String Summit, Grey Fox, All Good, High Sierra, Wakarusa, and many more.

Doors at 8pm. Show at 9pm. Ages 18+.
