Tipper and Friends to play Three Nights in Chicago, IL at Thalia Hall this August 21-23, 2015

Silver Wrapper and Infrasound present Tipper and Friends for Three Nights in Chicago, IL from Friday, August 21, 2015 to Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Thalia Hall.

After last year’s sold out show at Portage Theatre, Tipper returns to Chicago in the more intimate confines and beautiful setting that is Thalia Hall. Modeled after the Prague Opera House and built in 1892, the Hall was a beacon of the neighborhood community and existed as one of the most ornate theaters of its times. It was granted landmark status in 1985, but was closed to the public in the 1960s and remained virtually untouched until the end of 2013 when the new owners began work on it. It has been restored to its original charm and character, but also treated acoustically to bring a wide array of music, community, and artistic events to the neighborhood it serves.

In celebration of such an inspiring undertaking, Tipper and Friends are going to spend 3 nights at Thalia Hall presenting three different experiences across each night. Friday night will feature a Tipper Downtempo or Journey Set, with support from Ion Driver and visual manipulations by the esteemed Johnathan Singer. Saturday night Tipper will present an Uptempo Set and turn off the visuals, inviting everyone to put on their dancing shoes and spend the night smiling at each other instead of the stage. Sunday night Tipper changes gears again, and for only the 3rd time ever (and first time in the Midwest) present his sit down Ambient Set, encouraging everyone in GA to bring pillows or cushions to get comfy and absorb the visuals by Johnathan Singer matching Tipper’s ambient flow.

Invited as the sole artist in residence for this occasion, XAVI will be Live Painting all three nights and also produce an exclusive show poster which he will reveal closer to the event. There are everything from seated balcony to opera box seats, friendly staff, and great sound on offer for Tipper’s only Chicago area show for 2015. All 3 shows are 17+. See you there.

Doors at 8:00 PM Friday and Saturday, 7:00 PM on Sunday. Ages 17+.

Silver Wrapper presents Paul Basic and Leikeli47 on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 1st Ward / Chop Shop.

Over the last several years, Colorado producer Paul Basic (Paul Brandt) has developed his own brand of beats fusing dusty samples with hard hitting drums and razor-sharp basslines. His roots are in drumming, having played in a band with label-mates Michal Menert and Derek Vincent Smith through highschool before moving on to produce his own tracks. He draws from a slew of inspirations in order to create his own style within the PLM electro hip-hop movement.

Leikeli47 (pronounced Leh-Kay-Lee) made her musical introduction by debuting her self-produced mixtape, “Lk-47.” Her 11-track mixtape garnered initial buzz due to the hard-hitting tomboy anthem “Miss America.” The rebellious New Yorker whom is celebrated across the pond by BBC 1XTRA’s Sarah-Jane Crawford, had a slew of her tracks featured for Sarah-Jane’s “Smash of the Week.” Her music also caught the attention of UK DJ/radio personality, Lily Mercer, who introduced Leikeli’s electric boom bap sound to her Rinse FM audience.

Hudson Mohawke returns with new album “Lantern”, tour stops in Chicago at 1st Ward / Chop Shop on Saturday, May 23, 2015

Silver Wrapper presents Hudson Mohawke on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 1st Ward / Chop Shop.

Hudson Mohawke (Ross Birchard) has been on a meteoric rise the last few years, working with some of the biggest names in hip hop, pop and dance music but everything started in a bedroom in Glasgow when he was barely a teenager. From age 15 he was an award winning scratch DJ producing happy hardcore on cracked software – he came to define a generation of electronic fusion producers but unlike many of his peers, Hudson has matured into a fully fledged contemporary hitmaker continually working to break the mold. Two weeks ago, Hudson Mohawke announced his new album, Lantern, with a creepy teaser, and now the Scottish producer has shared the first track from the album: the fittingly titled “Very First Breath.” The new track, which premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show earlier today, features vocals from French singer Irfane nestled amid booming, spacious bass and anxious synths. Listen to it here.

Goldfish brings “Organic House” Tour to 1st Ward / Chop Shop on Saturday, March 21, 2015

Silver Wrapper presents Goldfish (Live) with special guests Auto Body on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 1st Ward / Chop Shop.

At the core of Goldfish has always been the collision of real, live “organic” instruments with electronic beats, creating an uplifting blend of dance music. Over the past few years a ground swell of like minded artists has begun to develop the same organic musical aesthetics. It seems like almost overnight this sound that we love so much has exploded online and onto the collective airwaves worldwide. Some people refer to it as “Deep House” – and although it does owe a fair amount of inspiration to this genre, it definitely has its own set of unique characteristics, so we found the need to differentiate it with its own genre: “Organic House” was born. Listen to Goldfish “Organic House” album here. This compilation features some of the biggest tracks currently rocking dance floors, as well as a selection of future classics. It’s more than just a compilation of the freshest sounds but a state of the nation: Organic house.

Conceived in and birthed from Austin’s steamy underground houses of Rock, Auto Body is live Electro Fusion. Fueled by their shared bloodlust for sonic divinity, and armed with a war chest of synthesizers, samplers, rattlesnakes, and a bass guitar, Tibaut Bowman (DJ Thibault) and Felix Moreno (Future Rock), crusade the universe in search of the electronic Holy Grail.
